El Paso Jazz Girls offers a variety of opportunities to create and learn throughout the year. We also partner with other arts organizations so our participants can connect with females interested in jazz and composition from across the country!

El Paso Museum of History

El Paso Museum of History is opening a new exhibit on the El Paso Music Scene and will feature some original work from El Paso Jazz Girls' participants over the years.

  • December 22, 2023 Holiday Jazz with El Paso Jazz Girls on KTEP. Our teaching artists and participants hosted a special edition of Morning Jazz on KTEP featuring all music performed and mostly written by women. Listen to the whole show here.

  • January - February, 2023 NPR StoryCorp Mobile Tour. We are partnering with StoryCorp during their El Paso mobile tour where our participants will be able to share their story. To sign up, send us an email! 

  • July 30, 2022 Encanto Screening with Germaine Franco! As part of the Plaza Classic Film Festival, we will be attending the screening and reception for Encanto with Oscar nominated film composer and El Paso native, Germaine Franco. After meeting her virtually at our 5th Annual Summer Program, participants will be able to meet with her in person, ask questions, and see her work live.

  • April 30, 2022 International Jazz Day with Chantal Camus! Chantal will be going live on our YouTube page at 5pm MST talking about her composition process and how she uses jazz elements to create an original sound.

  • March 16 - 19, 2022 Key of She Jazz Virtual Week. Sign up for this free online event focusing on skill building and camaraderie.

  • September 12, 2021 Masterclass with Yazz Ahmed! Calling all brass players, Yazz Ahmed is giving a free masterclass as part of Dave Douglas' Festival of New Trumpet Music and El Paso Jazz Girls is invited to participate! 

  • July 5, 2021 Collaborative Curriculum Building: Women in Jazz and Creative Music with Miranda Agnew. Interested in collaboratively developing a curriculum for high school jazz programs? Can you commit to attending six 2 hour virtual meetings, preparing reading/music/assignments for each meeting, and provide honest and critical input?   • August 17 -18, 2020 Jazz Girls TX. We are partnering with educators and musicians across the state for a two day summit focusing on connection and building community. 

  • June 26, 2020 El Paso Jazz Girls LIVE! Hear original compositions, arranged and recorded by our participants.

  • January 3, 2020 Open Mic Night. Join us at the Pizza Joint for an open jam, bring a song you've been working on, an original, or your favorite standard to share!
